U High Indoor Meet # 3

Congratulations to the U High Track Teams for an excellent final indoor meet on Friday the 6th of March. The highlight of the night was the celebration of the 1st U High State Championship that was won in 1909. In honor of that we staged 2 exhibition races in which U High record holder and 4-time state champion Chris Harper competed. Mr Harper was able to run well as usual showing the huge crowd that speed never goes away! He won the 55 dash in 6.6 seconds and the 200 dash in 24.06 seconds. He still holds the fastest time in illinois in the 55 from when he was a senior at 6.3! His best 200 in HS was 21.10. Thanks to Joe Hurst, Zak Reneau-Wedeen, Nate Wise, Ben Jurisson and Walter Bourdaughs for the stiff competition. In the regular events Leah Sibener won the 200 in 27.7, Aoife MacMahon won the 1600 in 5:45.3, the 4 x 800 relay of Aoife, Sherry Fu, Emily Kuo and Josey Mintel won in 10:43. Our next meet will be outdoors after break.
